The Israel Bonds Time Capsule

In celebration of Jerusalem 3000, a 1996 Israel Bonds delegation buried a time capsule in the gardens of the King David Hotel, site of the historic 1950 founding conference. Containing numerous artifacts accumulated throughout the decades, the capsule is scheduled for opening in 2176.

On May 10th, 1951, Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion paid an historic visit to New York, during which he formally launched Israel Bonds at Madison Square Garden. Thousands packed the venue and lined the streets as they enthusiastically greeted the first leader of a sovereign Jewish nation in over 2,000 years.
